So, here I am…trudging in from the whirlwind of the past weekend. In my last post I mentioned how I was seeing BTS last minute because my friend had a ticket to their Las Vegas show, which is where I live. I am one to throw myself into any experience completely and it’s safe to say that I am juicing this city of all its BTS-ness while it lasts and in the process have become a huge fan. I know there are quite a few BTS fans here in this community, so I thought it would be fun to just show how this weekend/week has been. So here we go!
BTS Pop-Up
MY day one started during the week when I quickly went to the official BTS Pop-Up from work, since it was the only ticket time I could get. It was so cute, with a bunch of different sets to take photos in front of. I was alone this day, so I whipped through it and just took a couple photos when I didn’t feel too awkward.
Concert Day 1
I had a ton of fun with my friend at the concert. It was a long day! I learned about freebies the day before and ended up making stickers to give away/trade with other fans. Everyone was so nice. I have been to a ton of concerts, but ARMY really does make BTS so much fun to love. There’s something magical about this fandom that I have never experienced before.
It was a huge whirlwind, but my favorite performances were Black Swan, DNA, Life Goes On, Telepathy, and IDOL. While the concert was a ton of fun, the huge amount of lights definitely made me
a bit sick. I stuck the concert out, but next time I will be showing up with concert earplugs, sunglasses, and a small pharmacy in my bag to fend off any migraines!
On a bookish sidenote…I’m 80% sure I saw Stephenie Meyer in the bathroom at the concert…I was so caught of guard that I can’t be completely sure, but it tracks… 😀
Behind the Stage: Permission to Dance Exhibition
My friend and I visited the photo exhibition the day after the concert. It was mostly just a gallery of photos of the boys. It was cute, but I honestly liked the free Pop-Up better than this, which we had to pay for. We also went to the Bellagio Fountains to see the BTS fountain show, which was very cool.
Other Things in the City
The best thing about these BTS shows is that the entire city has had an endless array of BTS activities and pop-up events happening for fans. I went to several pop-ups, had some BTS-themed food and drinks, and bought a bit too much fan-made merch from small businesses.
It’s also been super cool to see BTS doing things both on the Las Vegas strip and off the strip, enjoying all this city has to offer. Vegas is a very small city in the grand scheme of things. Basically, you can be anywhere in Vegas within at most 40 minutes. Outside of the city, there is nothing but desert. I don’t love it here, but it’s where I live so I have to make the best of it. It’s a bit of a fishbowl. One of the videos that one of the boys posted to his Instagram was literally filmed across the street from where I live, at one of the most unlikely little strip malls. It’s very odd. What was I doing while he was less than a minute away?!
This was a bit of a different post than I’ve ever done, but I had such a happy time this week that I wanted to share it. If you are a BTS fan already, then you know how personal being a fan is. Something about BTS and ARMY makes you feel like you are not alone and gives you something to look forward to. There 100% isn’t an age-limit to fan”girl”-ness in my book. While I appreciated people’s love for them before, I didn’t completely understand why it was they felt this way. It’s safe to say that I now feel just as devoted to this group. It’s so fascinating to me how you can feel a part of the fandom in such a short amount of time.
I took a bit of a break from reading this week, but I will hopefully be back to it soon. I have a busy month of other non-BTS concerts, so I will try to read between all the excitement. I’m super grateful that I am able to do all this, I truly recognize the privilege I have.
Thanks for reading, I hope you are having a nice month so far! If you are BTS fan, what are your favorite songs? Do you have a bias? I think mine is Jungkook…but I love RM and Jin and J-Hope and all of them really…I can’t completely decide. 🙂
Love this! I’m so glad you had an amazing time! 💜
On a side note, I can relate to not loving the city you live in. It’s a conflicting feeling! Do you live there since birth or did you have to move there later?
I moved here, but I also really didn’t love my hometown until I left…and now I appreciate it so much. I know it will be the same thing once I leave the city I live in now. I find that I appreciate a place much more once I’ve left it if that makes sense!
