Hi there! Today I’m doing my very first WWW Wednesday, hosted by Taking on a World of Words. All you have to do to participate is answer the following three questions.
- What are you currently reading?
2. What did you recently finish reading?
3. What do you think you’ll read next?
Here are my WWWs this week! ☕
What are you currently reading?
🍃 The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
I’m currently reading The Shadow of the Wind for a new book club my tía, cousin, and I decided to form. My aunt picked this book and I’m so excited about it because I’ve been wanting to read it for a long time. I’m currently less than a quarter of the way through and taking it slowly so I can keep at the pace of my other book club members, but I’m very much enjoying the atmosphere of it so far. It’s a mystery that takes place in Barcelona and there is so much magic without their being actual magic or magical realism. I love when books are magical in all of their reality!
🍃 You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria
I just started listening to the audiobook for this and so far I’m liking it. I basically decided to read this solely because of all of the book bloggers I follow that have read it recently. I’m interested to see how I feel about it compared to everyone else. I also love Ugly Betty and Jane the Virgin + watched many novelas with my mom as a kid, so I’m excited to feel those telenovela vibes with this book.
What did you recently finish reading?
🍃 Miss Meteor by Tehlor Kay Mejia and Anna-Marie McLemore
This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020! I am super happy that I was able to get an ARC of the book for a blog tour because I feel like it’s been ages since I first saw the beautiful cover and added it to my TBR. It was such a fun, cute book with so many different things going for it. Sisterhood, friends-to-lovers x2, pansexual rep, transgender rep, cute friend groups, small town vibes…it reminded me so much of the TV show Roswell that I got way too into several years ago, but with a Latinx twist. Review and blog tour post for this book will be coming on release day, September 22nd!
What do you think you’ll read next?
🍃 The Mothers by Brit Bennett
I recently found this book at the 99 cent store, which I’m SO stoked about. I’m always searching the book selection at dollar stores and I finally found one that doesn’t have horrendous reviews. It’s the debut from Brit Bennett, the author of The Vanishing Half, which I’ve also been wanting to read ever since it came out. This is a book that I’m hoping will refresh my reading mood since it’s short and I can jump back into the big stack of books that I have checked out from the library!
What are you currently reading or plan on reading next? Have you read any of these books?
Let me know in the comments what you have been up to!
I hope you end up liking Miss Meteor, I have heard so many good things about this book already 😊 I’m currently reading The Silvered Serpents and All Systems Red, both books are really suspenseful!
I actually finished it and really loved it! I am so excited to read The Silvered Serpents, I have been waiting so long for it to come out! I hope you enjoy what you are reading 💖
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Miss Meteor and You Had Me at Hola!!!! I really really want to read both of them!
I really want to read The Shadow of the Wind! My parents read all of the series and they loved it and I feel bad for still not reading it. 😂
Miss Meteor is also on my tbr, though I don’t know when will I be able to read it.
I read The Vanishing Half a few months ago, it’s really good! Definitely worth the hype!
I didn’t even realize it was a series until after I started it! I’m glad The Vanishing Half is worth the hype, I’m still waiting to get into the right mood to read it!
I’ve heard so much about Brit Bennett! Happy for you to have found it in the 99 cent store. 🤩Your description of Ths Shadow Of The Wind being “magical with all their reality” sounds wonderful! I am definitely going to check it out, thanks!
Thanks! Always love an inexpensive book!
Yes, I’m really liking it so far for it’s atmosphere more than anything.
